GHG Accounting
ZenithJet can help you understand your climate impact by measuring and tracking your GHG emissions in accordance with globally recognized standards, the GHG protocol, and ISO 14064 standards. This includes quantifying direct and indirect emissions across the supply chain and operations.
Greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting is the process of quantifying the emissions of greenhouse gases from various sources and activities. The goal of GHG accounting is to identify sources of emissions, measure their magnitude, and monitor trends over time.
Greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting can be broken down into different sectors or scopes, depending on the scope of the emissions being quantified. The most commonly used scopes are outlined below:
Scope One Emissions
Direct emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the reporting entity. This includes emissions from on-site energy generation, such as boilers and internal combustion engines, as well as emissions from industrial processes.
Scope Two Emissions
Indirect emissions from the generation of electricity, heating, or cooling that is consumed by the reporting entity. This includes emissions from power plants and other energy generation facilities that provide energy to the reporting entity.
Scope Three Emissions
Other indirect emissions that occur in the value chain of the reporting entity but are not included in Scopes 1 or 2. This can include emissions from upstream and downstream activities such as transportation, waste, and employee commuting.
OUR SERVICES
GHG Inventories
We assist our clients communicate and disclose their sustainability performance and progress, by developing GHG inventory reports that engage stakeholders and communicate the results transparently, accurately and consistently.
Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories are essential tools for organizations, governments, and individuals to understand and track their emissions of GHGs, which are the main contributors to climate change. These inventories provide a comprehensive and standardized overview of the sources and magnitudes of GHG emissions, which can be used to inform decision-making and track progress towards reducing emissions.
GHG inventories are typically based on a robust and systematic methodology that involves the following five steps:
Inventory Development
Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories are tools used to track and quantify GHG emissions from various sources and activities such as processes like energy use and indirect emissions from transportation and waste.
Data Collection
Collecting data on energy use, fuel consumption, and other relevant activities to determine GHG emissions.
Calculation
Using established methodologies to calculate GHG emissions based on the data collected.
Verification
Ensuring the accuracy of the GHG inventory through independent verification, either by an internal team or an external auditor.
Reporting
We assist our clients to communicate and disclose their sustainability performance and progress, by developing GHG inventory reports that:
1) Identify GHG reduction opportunities.
2) Engage stakeholders and communicate the results transparently, accurately, and consistently.
3) Demonstrate leadership and accountability.
